HISTORY OF TAMPA BAY DRONE CLUB

VIRTUAL EVENTS & CORONA VIRUS LOCKDOWN
While the world was unable to get outside and gather, we hosted online weekly meetups on friday nights, for member's to still be able to interact & enjoy the hobby.
Short introductory classes were also offered during this time to learn about diffrent software, and drone related programs including 3d modeling, 3d printing, 3d Mapping & more.

First Annual Memebership Survey
We conducted our first annual membership survey for member's to suggest new events & feedback on prior years events.
Many community based organizations' do not allow member's to provide feedback on organization structure, events and overall hobby.
Some valuable feedback was given during this survey including added more flying events & setting up night flights.
Jan - 2023
TRANSITION TO WEBSITE
During this time, we started to transition to our current website (TampaBayDroneClub.com) and schedule events on our own platform.
Member accounts were created & suggested to post content.

5 YEAR FOUNDATION ANNVERSARY
Tampa Bay Drone Club's 5 Year Founding Anniversary. Night flights and daytime racing events, were offered during this time.

Our Website was upgraded to include multiple safety and quality of life improvements:

OPEN FLYING RESUMES
About 10 + Annual Flying Events were scheduled since the parks reopened. In Total there was about 6 active flying locations during this time.
In Jan 2019, Brandon Drone Club was founded.
Weekly events were scheduled & provided local hobbyists with a local-safe community to fly with. We partnered with meetup to provide the community with a place to interact and RSVP.
Because of the lack of leadership & need for a community organization, Brandon Drone club was founded with safe-weekly events for member's to enjoy their hobby.

TAMPA DRONE CLUB MERGES WITH TB DRONE CLUB
During this time, another meetup group (Tampa Drones) group was officially merged with Tampa bay drone club.
Previously our current club (TB Drone Club) was known as "Brandon Drone Meetup" and changed names to "Tampa Bay Drone Club" To Better Reflect the community.
Feb - 2024
OUR FIRST FUN-FLY RACING EVENT
We hosted our first timed FPV Drone racing event. We build a custom rotor hazard lap timer and began to time laps.
Unlike other drone racing groups, we were one of the first to fly/race with digital drones (such as DJI & Walksnail) with analog alongside. Swag Points was given to winner for future items.
